And no wonder. On Saturday, April 13th, the three Taco John's locations in Minot worked extra hard from 11 am to 7pm, because all proceeds - every dollar that came in - went to help the city recover from the devastating flood of 2011. Odney helped with coordination and media on the fundraiser, which raised $29,670.01 for Hope Village, a unified volunteer center that's leading the way in helping people affected by the flood rebuild their lives.

Mike has another big reason to be proud - the Taco John's location on South Broadway now holds the single day sales record for all of the Taco John's locations across the country. But what we really love is results. North Dakota Tourism recently announced the latest return on investment for the 2012 "Arrive a Guest. Leave a Legend." campaign, as reported by research conducted by Longwoods International, a leading travel industry market research company:

A $1.9-million investment in North Dakota tourism advertising brought $231.6 million in visitor spending to the state in 2012
Each dollar spent on paid media brought in $119 in visitor spending
Each dollar spent on advertising brought in $9 in state and local taxes, for a combined total of $17.8 million in taxes paid by visitors last year

The campaign produced more than 1.4 million trips to North Dakota in 2012
The overall cost of advertising per visitor trip was $1.36. A cost per trip of less than $2 is considered excellent

The 2012 campaign also showed the highest level of awareness for any of the Legendary campaigns to date. Fifty-six percent recalled the advertising, compared to 45 percent in 2010, 46 percent in 2007, 38 percent in 2005 and 37 percent in 2004. For those who have seen North Dakota Tourism's advertising, the image of North Dakota as a place they would really enjoy visiting increased from 32 percent in 2010 to 50 percent in 2012, the highest level since measurement research began in 2002.

"When we first started working with Tourism in 2000, independent research showed a lack of awareness of North Dakota as a destination," says Trish Helgeson, Odney's director of account services. "That's why the initial ‘Legendary' campaign focused on building awareness and creating a brand. Continued research has shown that these efforts have been successful, and now the campaign is evolving to portray the specific experiences North Dakota has to offer."

Each of the 10 print ads and 5 TV ads in the "Arrive a Guest. Leave a Legend." campaign is focused on a specific North Dakota experience: hiking, golfing, birding, family fun, history, hunting, shopping. This approach draws people in and creates an emotional connection by inviting them to imagine themselves enjoying these experiences. Research has shown that this campaign is delivering results, as potential travelers report recalling not just the ads but the specific experiences they portray.

Recently unveiled printed materials for 2013 include a larger map with more detailed information, the new 2013 Travel Guide and Hunting & Fishing Guide. Due to increasing demand, 340,000 travel guides were printed for 2013, up from 335,000 in 2012. The Hunting & Fishing Guide also became available online in 2012. Visits to the digital travel guide grew 584 percent in 2012 and mobile views increased 40 times from 2011 to 2012.

"While we know this continues to be a strong campaign, it's so important to measure the results," says Trish. "We've seen a remarkable return on investment over the years. This campaign keeps delivering in every way - awareness, visitor trips, visitor spending, ROI, and building a compelling ‘Legendary' brand for North Dakota."

<atom:published xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom">Wed, 23 Jan 2013 00:00:00 GMT</atom:published>
Odney

Rhonda's New Role

Rhonda Jensen is definitely the hands-on type.
